This thirst project is about how kids and families in places that are very poor have trouble to get water. The most difficult part is walking a bunch of miles with a heavy jerry can full of water that is dirty and gives children and parents really sick because of the parasites in the dirty water they get. It all started with a photograph and that picture changed everything from that moment. This crisis became well known in the summer of 2007. The problems the thirst project are trying to solve is to give water to every poor area that has very few clean water and has very dirty water that can get people really sick. The solutions to this problem are to raise as much money as they can and to build underground pipes to bring fresh clean water to the needy.
How everyone including me can all solve this problem is by everyone in my school to do their best to earn at least 2 dollars and all of that money together can build many pumps and wells for these people in need of fresh water. Some of these countries being helped by this organization are Pakistan, Northern Cyprus, and many parts of Africa. The way that I can help is by raising a dollar or 2 from a part of my family, friends, or even random people I see everywhere. The way that I can raise a dollar is by asking my parents because it is for a very good cause and also spreading the word to everything. At first when I became aware of these negative effects in the dirty water that these people drink I thought it was messed up and wanted to help them by donating money. Three effects of lack of clean water can be dehydration which kills many people, you can also go blind, and lastly u can get bloated because of all of the parasites hat go in their stomach from dirty water.
Finally I think this changed my whole perspective on life because now I know not to take water for granite and actually try my best to save as much as I can. My fundraising experience went pretty well I asked my parents it was going for a good cause and they just went along with it and gave me the money for this project and I feel pretty good knowing that this money would make a difference in some ones life. I have never had lack of clean water even if I been out of my area I have seen some dirty water before but I have never drank that because I would be blessed with clean water. My parents just asked where the money would go I said it was for the thirst project and they were ok with it. It did feel pretty good to help all these people get fresh water and appreciate myself in being a part of this.
